Kottu Roti
Overview
Kottu Roti is a beloved Sri Lankan street food made by chopping roti and stir-frying it with vegetables, eggs, and spices. It’s customizable, quick to make, and known for its signature sizzling sound on the griddle.

- 2 Eggs, 1 cup Cabbage, shredded
- 3–4 Godamba roti, chopped, 1/2 cup Carrot, shredded
- 1 small Onion, sliced, 1 tsp Sri Lankan curry powder
- 1–2 tbsp Oil, Salt to taste

Heat a large pan or griddle and add oil. Sauté onions until softened.
Add carrot and cabbage, stir-fry for 2–3 minutes. Push veggies to one side and scramble the eggs.
Add chopped roti/paratha. Sprinkle curry powder, salt, and optional soy sauce. Mix well and stir-fry until everything is hot and evenly seasoned.


Serve immediately with chili paste (lunumiris) or a mild curry on the side.
Notes:
Tip: If you don’t have godamba roti, use plain paratha or even day-old roti/chapati for a closer texture.
